Regular Check-ups

Check-ups are essential to preserve your dental health!

Yes, we know.

Life’s busy. It’s tempting to delay seeing your dentist.

But doing so, might be more trouble than the time you save.

Regular Check-ups

Even with frequent brushing and flossing, plaque and stains build up on teeth over time, giving them a dull appearance. Also, bacteria can still collect in hard to reach places and cavities may start to form beneath the gums.

So while home care is a first line of defense, it’s not enough.

Professional cleaning is a necessary compliment to daily cleaning at home, and regular check-ups are necessary to keep your mouth healthy. The Order of Quebec Dentists and the Canadian Dental Association recommends regular check-ups and hygiene visits every six months. This frequency is important. It allows you to build a relationship with your dentist, gives you opportunities to discuss any oral health concerns and most importantly to catch problems as early as possible. With visits twice a year, your dentist can catch and treat any issues and keep you healthy.

What happens at a regular check-up?

  1. We clean and polish the surfaces of your teeth, removing stains and tartar and plaque that can cause gum disease.
  2. We may take x-rays to assess the health of your teeth and to detect decay below the gumline.
  3. We make sure there is no new disease or decay that may need treatment to avoid serious complications.
  4. We address any oral health concerns you may have.
  5. We’ll give you a toothbrush and some floss and we’ll pretend you’re going to use the floss. Just kidding. You will use the floss, right? Right?
